November 17th 2009 will mark the first yahrtziet anniversary of Rabbi Gaviel and Rivkah Holtzberg, the Chabad emissaries murdered by terrorists in the Chabad House in Mumbai.
So, how should our local Chabad center respond to the darkness that occurred in Mumbai? There is only one way: with more light and more kindness.
But, with the current economic downturn and the loss of major grants, our center is in need of local sponsors like you to get behind the vital work of Chabad in our community.
As a donor you’ll be happy to know that since last November our staff gave free counseling for an estimated 832 hours.
When Ben’s father suddenly died in July, the first number he dialed was ours. Chabad has a track record for helping others, no matter whom, where, or when. People know they can count on the Chabad network when they need it most. Our staff is always on-call with hospital visits, assistance in the job market, connecting people with pro-bono physicians or whatever is needed at the moment.
The current economic situation only increases the needs of those less fortunate than you. Stacy is a single mom who is on the verge of an eviction, Donald has been out of work and needs a loan, Molly needs a scholarship, and the calls keep coming in.
“Rabbi can you help us?” How we will respond is up to you. We cannot do it without your help.
